A Tale of Two Indias

Hopefully this trip will not echo Charles Dickens' first lines of A Tale of Two Cities:
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times....

We do not fancy having the worst of times travelling anywhere, let alone in India!

It is such a vast country and we are only there for 5 weeks, so have curated this trip to provide a window on two geographic regions that together promise divergent experiences:

North and South

Urban and Rural

Five Star Hotels and Camping

Driving with a Private Guide and Trekking with a Group

and with a 40 hour train to link the two!

It feels like we are setting off on our own live action version of the board game Ticket to Ride - India Edition.

Despite not a lot of lead-up time, the usual preparations have been made: vaccinations, medications, minimal clothing options chosen and prepared, housesitter engaged, plants watered, birdfeeder filled. Visas - check. Local currency - check. Hotels, transport, guides all booked - check. Research done - check. Notes prepared - check. Check list ready - check. Excitement level - unchecked!
