In the UK, Tandoori Chicken has been a post-party pub grub staple
since the 1960s. Yesterday we broke our vegetarian diet to try our first Tandoori Chicken in India and it
totally reminded me of British Tandoori Chicken especially those eaten during my university
days at Leicester when TC was an end-of-week treat.
the UK and Indian versions taste different
from the TC I can get up the road in Vancouver, in the Punjabi market 2 blocks from our
house, but also it makes me reminisce.
Just to add to the collision of
memories, yesterday in the hotel bar, we met a man from Leicester who had gone
to primary school a couple of roads behind Filbert Street East where I lived
for a year, in a 3 up, 2 down terrace house between the prison and the
Leicester City football ground. Ah, memories.
