For those of you who had been looking forward to Martin's famed Regularity Reports, you will be sadly disappointed. For one thing, we are both far too regular. For another, our driver ensures we only go to the cleanest places while on the road, and we are staying in very clean hotels with little out of the ordinary except for a tap and hose near the toilet, the use of which we are unsure. To rinse out the toilet? To act as a sort of bidet? To wash our feet? Not needing them, we avoid them.
On the road, we are generally directed to a loo that is governed by a young man or woman who gives us paper. The women's stalls contain either a standard western toilet or a squatter, and once I was confronted with a "sitter" that had grooved foot plates on the seat. There is always water to wash hands, and sometimes soap. We are given more paper - usually a paper napkin from the restaurant. For the service of attendant and a clean loo we always each tip 10 rupees (about 25 cents).

I'm "relieved" by this update....
